Simon Duckworth
Councillor, lead on Philanthropy and Safer Streets
Simon Duckworth was elected Common Councillor for the City in 2000 representing the Ward of Bishopsgate, where he has both lived and worked. Simon is an AIM company director covering Tech, IT and Investment Management based in the City of London and has worked in the City for over twenty years.
Simon is a former Chairman of the City’s Police Authority and champions the efforts of the City of London Police to help maintain a safe and secure environment in which to live, work and visit. He has played a leading role within police and law enforcement governance nationally and was the senior Non-Executive Director at the Serious Fraud Office helping to ensure national business integrity and reputation.
He has been a governor of the Sir John Cass primary school, the City of London Freemen's School, City University, London and Vice Chairman of Gresham College, one of London's oldest tertiary education bodies delivering public lectures across a wide range of subjects for the primary benefit of Londoners, but which is still 'free for all'.
Simon also sits on the City Bridge Foundation helping to lead the strategy of one of the UK’s oldest charitable bodies.
A serving Reservist, Simon is the City Corporation’s Armed Forces Champion supporting the many veterans and reservists working in the City today
